Word Search 10K is our attempt to break the World Record for Largest Word Search Puzzle.
Of course, we’re making it into an app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. It’ll be available in the App Store soon! But as part of the presentation for the record attempt, we decided to make a massive poster, showing that it is in fact one continuous poster.
Can you even picture what a grid of 90,000 letters looks like? Or a list of 10,000 words? Here’s a massively scaled down preview!
This poster is printed on A0 paper. That measures 1184 x 841 mm – or if you prefer inches, it’s 33.1″ x 46.6″.
The letters are fairly small, but they’re readable. There’s about 10 letters per inch in the word grid. It’s a little smaller in the word list at the side.
We settled on a black and white print after trying a few things. Firstly, the cost of a colour print was significantly more expensive. Secondly, we figured that if we were going to publish this poster, people who bought a copy would actually want to solve it. You’re not just going to display this on a wall and never touch it – or at least I hope not!
We want to see people solving this! So it’s a high quality laser print on matt white paper. That means you can easily write on with a pencil or pen or use a fluorescent highlighter. Crucially, we’ve tested that it’s tough enough to let you erase pencil marks without destroying the print!
We’re taking pre-orders for the poster and they’ll ship as soon as the Word Search 10K app is available. Visit www.wordsearch10k.com to order your copy!
